Divide the grid into nine non-overlapping regions, each consisting of nine orthogonally connected cells. Some borders between the regions are already given. Fill the grid with digits 1–9 so that each row, column, and region contains each digit exactly once. Digits may not repeat within a cage, and no cage is entirely contained within a single region. Region borders divide each cage into pieces with equal sums. That is, in each region containing cells of a cage, those cells form a single orthogonally connected piece, and all pieces of that cage have the same sum (different cages may have different sums). Digits separated by a white dot are consecutive. Not all possible dots are necessarily given.
